Special Education

Any student who meets the eligibility requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Chapter 60 of the Hawaii Revised Statues will be offered specialized instruction and related services as prescribed by an Individualized Education Program (IEP).  By law, an IEP must be reviewed annually and re-evaluations (eligibility for services) must be conducted no later than every three years.  Please contact your child’s Care Coordinator if you have questions about these meetings.

All IEPs from out-of-state will be in place until and carried out to the fullest extent possible until an eligibility determination is made in the State of Hawaii.

Here at Mililani Waena Elementary, we are committed to providing all identified students instruction in the least restrictive environment.  This means instruction with non-disabled peers in the general education setting to the maximum extent appropriate.
