Welcome to Mrs. Baker's Kindergarten Class!

Dear D2-C students and parents,

I'm really excited to get to know each of you this year! We will be learning lots of new things in our class. Letter sounds, addition/subtraction skills, and problem solving activities are just a few things we will be exploring this year. You'll even learn how to read your very own books and keep a written journal! We are so lucky here to have MacBook Air laptops for each of you to use in our classroom. With all our technology resources, you will get an enriching blended learning experience! We will work on your reading and math skills through our iReady program, and have a chance to explore LexiaCore5 and IXL as well. Our school also has a digital library where you will have access to check out ebooks to read at home!

As your teacher this year, I would like to share a little about myself. I grew up in Maryland, on the outskirts of Washington D.C. with my wonderful parents and three brothers. When I graduated from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelor's Degree in both Elementary and Special Education, I decided to make the move out to this beautiful island in Hawaii. I love living here with my husband (Mr. Baker) and puppy (Maka). I especially enjoy going to the beach, running, hiking, traveling, and painting. I ran track in college, so it continues to be a passion of mine and you might see me out on the field after school coaching the older students here at Mililani Waena. This is my 9th year of teaching (6th at our school), but I couldn't be more excited to start a new adventure with all of you this year!!

For the parents, communication is key! Do not hesitate to stop by after school or shoot me an email at if you ever have any questions or concerns. Your child's academic success is a team effort, and know that I am here to support your child's love of learning, health, and happiness in any way that I can. The H.A.T. (Homework Assignment Tablet) is also a tool you can use to communicate with me as I will be checking them every morning. Thank you for all your support and I'm looking forward to working with you to make this a great experience for all of us!

As we dive into the new school year, let's remember to work hard, try our best, persevere, and to have some fun! We will be "critical thinkers in action" throughout our first year of elementary school together!

Welcome to SeeSaw!

We’re excited to share our learning with you.  Our class has learned a lot about technology use and they have worked hard on their blogs.  All posts are monitored and filtered. When students add to their blog, teachers must give approval before it is posted. Throughout the year as our students learn additional skills, they will grow and expand their pages to showcase some of their work and goals. Students’ work may vary from class to class and student to student.

We are very proud of our students and hope you enjoy this opportunity to take part in your child’s learning progress. We look forward to using this site as another way to engage our students and families!

*Directions on how to access your child’s SeeSaw account were sent home on Monday, November 14, 2016.
