Aloha Mai,
My name is Kumu Kawika and I am your school's Hawaiian Cultural Resource Personnel per the Hawaii Kupuna Program. That's just a fancy way to say that i'm your Hawaiian studies Teacher. In this time of great change we must remember to IMUA, to keep moving forward, to keep growing, and challenging ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves. I am excited to see all of the great things we can learn and accomplish this year as the proud MENEHUNE we are!
‘O ka ikaika o ka mana‘o me ke kino.
(Be strong in mind and body.)
About Me:
  • Born in Wahi'awa, then raised on Hawaii Isle, Maui and then back home to Hale'iwa
  • Been teaching Hawaiian Studies since 2013
  • I've paddled outrigger canoe since HS & crossed the Ka'iwi Channel twice so far
  •  I get down and dirty working as a Kalo Farmer on my spare time down in Waialua
  • When weather permits, I'm a crew mate on a Hawaiian Sailing Canoe out West
  • My Goal is to perpetuate our unique and beautiful culture so that it may live forever through our keiki and our keiki's keiki and so on.
